We’ve just published the first installment of a new personal series:
“A Record of a Film in the Making.”
It begins not with a screenplay or structure, but with a quiet moment—a voice that appeared before the story had a shape.
As an experiment, we’ve decided to document the writing process of Matsui’s new film project through this ongoing series—both in newsletter form (in English) and as journal entries (in Japanese).
This is the beginning of a project still without a title, and perhaps more honestly, a record for himself as we navigate the uncertain early stages of creation.
